Life of an Artist: Dawn Okoro

I LOVE Dawn Okoro (painter) She is an ABSOLUTE artist. I had the pleasure of attending, what I believe was her first show way back when in Austin TX and has been a HUGE fan ever since. It's a beautiful thing to be able to watch a person grow and create. (it makes my heart happy to see my friends and peers creating their life and living it) But what's most inspiring to ME (and i'm sure to other struggling and starving artist) is to know the story behind the perception. And for every ARTIST I know, they either had to work a 9 to 5 to fund their projects or they are still working that 9 to 5 to fund their projects and that is INSPIRATION. Let's not pretend we all just graduated from high school or college and starting doing what makes our souls dance with joy. If you have never had to struggle, sacrifice your time, skip a few meals, hustle up rent in a week, figure out how you going to put some gas in your car so you can get to that 9 to5...than you may not be able to recognize a blessing when it comes your way. God forbid you take it for granted and loose it. I'm not saying you in order to achieve the level of success you desire you have to be borderline homeless...but to know the bitterness life can hand you while going down the path YOU choose, doesn't it make LIFE extra SWEET (after all that)...

Everyone knows I have NO time on my hands to really write what my heart speaks, but by Divine intervention, I am able to share this with you. I hope you check her out and if you ever have a chance to visit a gallery showing, please do. I'm co-signing for Dawn Okoro ;-) tiff j

New Parents to more than one Baby: here's a tip (or two)

No matter how hard i try (and i try soooooo hard) to keep this place clean and well put together...it's proven to be an IMPOSSIBLE task. perfect example, i pick up a block and one if not all three are LITERALLY right behind and sometime beside me, putting another on the floor and in most cases dumping the basket of toys i just picked up. and that's just the toys!

TIP for new parents:
1. NEVER buy new furniture (living room, bedroom, dining..it doesn't matter) IT WILL BE DESTROYED
2. Stock up on Magic Erasers for the walls ( crayons, pencils, pens, eyeliner...) IT WILL BE DESTROYED
3. If your apartment or house has carpet, do not have it replaced with brand new carpet bc baby is on the way (pee, poop, milk, juice,raspberries, puke,...) IT WILL BE DESTROYED

Invest in a good vacuum (will be used on a daily basis), be prepared to rent a carpet cleaner for DIY cleaning (professionals cost more than you need to spend at this point)

there is sooo much more i could share with you, BUT, babies are calling and they show no mercy.

decided to create a slide show of the pics from yesterday. looking for a faster way to upload pics and this seems to be the fastest. the next one should be more creative. i just picked the first song that came up. its a bout 147 pics so hang in there lol. love ya love ya

First Crush

yesterday was a crazy fun day. took all three babies to the Doc for check ups (by myself). No pics  as you can imagine i had my hands, arms, legs full. Shots. Shots. & screaming. but I didn't it and did not get stressed out. it felt good to get through that on my own....BUT daddy will be at the next visit :-)

earlier that morning i promised Bri that we would go back to the mall for play time. after the Doc visit everyone was so pooped, i thought she had forgotten....NOT! when she woke up, she noticed we were rolling up to our front door and said "playtime" with a confused look on her face. KIDS. lol

so we waited another hour for daddy to get home so that he could go with. and i am so glad we did. WE got to witness the most amazing thing....Bri made a FRIEND and her first BOY CRUSH!!!  like mother like daughter. she was batting her big beautiful eyes at him. following him around, he was following her. she even touched his foot at one point...it was so CUTE!
And sooooo much fun!love watching kids be kids. Good memories.
